How much does a custom song cost in 2026?

Oct 27, 2026By the NameSong team

A custom song costs anywhere from about $7 to over $1,000, and the type of service decides most of that. On 27 October 2026, studio services where a songwriter and singer make the song started at $179 to $200, freelancers on Fiverr and Etsy mostly asked $10 to $100 for a basic package, and AI song sites charged about $10 to $13. NameSong is $12.99, paid only after you have heard the first 60 seconds for free.

Below are the prices we read that day, what each one buys, and the things that quietly double a quote.

Studio songwriter services: $179 to $1,099

Songfinch is a marketplace of musicians, and each one sets a price. Its homepage says songs start at $179, while the FAQ on its how-it-works page gives $199.99, so expect the lower figure to apply to only some artists. The artists featured on the homepage that day asked between $179 and $1,099, with most between $199 and $299.

The standard wait is seven days. You can pick a date one to seven days out at checkout, and a few artists deliver within 24 hours; its FAQ mentions a rush fee without listing it. Songfinch also offers to split the payment into four interest-free parts, which spreads the cost but does not lower it.

Songlorious prices by length instead of by artist. Its FAQ lists two minutes from $200, three minutes from $250 (its most popular), four from $295, five from $345 and six from $395. Four-day delivery is included, and faster dates cost $20 (three days), $35 (two days) or $85 (next day). A two-minute song wanted tomorrow therefore costs at least $285.

What the extra money buys at both is people's time. A songwriter reads your answers, writes verses around them, and a singer records and mixes the track. That is hours of skilled work per song, which is why nobody in this tier charges $30.

Freelancers on Fiverr and Etsy: $5 to $300

Fiverr's first page of results for "custom song" on 27 October 2026 held 42 song gigs. Their starting prices ran from $5 to $330, and half of them asked $55 or less. The cheapest package promised delivery in one to 21 days, with most landing between two and five days.

A starting price on Fiverr is the basic package. Sellers usually put a full vocal recording, a longer song or faster delivery in higher tiers, so read what the basic tier includes before you compare it with a studio. Three of the 42 gig titles said outright that the song is made with AI.

On Etsy, the custom song listings we opened showed base prices of $6.99, $10, $16.32, $27, $30 and $42.41, with one shop's top option reaching $297.50. Delivery promises ran from 12 to 24 hours up to "a few days". Two of those listings disclosed AI in the description: one is an AI-generated song, and the other has a person writing the lyrics with AI production tools for the track.

Freelancers can be excellent value, and a few have hundreds of reviews. The risk is that quality, delivery and what happens when you want a change all depend on one seller, so read their reviews and their revision terms rather than the gig title.

AI song sites: about $10

AI services write the lyrics and produce the vocal and music from what you type, which is why they can charge a tenth of a studio price. Songive listed $9.99 per song, one-time, ready in about two minutes. Melodybolt showed £9.99 with a crossed-out £19.99 and a free 60-second preview.

The price per song is only part of the comparison. Check whether you can hear your own song before paying, whether the price is one payment or a credit pack or subscription, how long the finished song runs, and what happens if the name comes out wrong.

NameSong charges $12.99 once to keep the whole song, about two minutes long. Before that you hear the first minute free, with no card, and read every lyric line. If you want another free preview after using up the free limit, an extra preview is $1.99. There are two optional add-ons: an AI singer video ($9.99), where a fictional AI singer performs about 30 seconds of the chorus, and AI living photos ($6.99), which turn three of your photos into short moving clips. The full breakdown is on the pricing page.

Upbeat pop · from his wife

Good Morning, Joaquin

for Joaquin

1:55
What they typed: “Joaquin turns 40 on Friday. He makes pancakes shaped like dinosaurs for the kids, runs the Brooklyn half marathon every spring, and still texts me good morning from the kitchen when I am upstairs.” All samples

That song is what the $12.99 covers: a wife's three details about her husband's 40th birthday, sung as upbeat pop with his name in the chorus. You can hear more on the samples page, each with the brief that produced it.

What pushes the price of a custom song up

Six things explain nearly every gap between a $10 song and a $1,000 one.

  • Human hours. A songwriter and singer spend real working time on each song. AI cuts that to minutes of computing, so the price drops by an order of magnitude.
  • Who sings it. On Songfinch, artists with more songs and a following charge more; the same order could cost $179 or $1,099 depending on whom you pick.
  • Length. Songlorious adds roughly $50 for each extra minute. Most AI songs, ours included, run about two minutes.
  • Speed. Rush delivery is the most common surcharge. At Songlorious it is $20 to $85; at Songfinch it depends on the artist.
  • Changes. Revisions are where totals grow after checkout. Songfinch's FAQ includes up to five changed lyric lines, while its revisions page describes paid change requests where you name an amount; Songlorious lets you reword lyrics free before recording but charges for other changes after delivery.
  • Add-ons. Extra verses, instrumentals, a commercial license, streaming release and physical keepsakes are sold separately at the studios, and some sellers put the vocal track itself in a higher tier.

Payment terms matter too. Songfinch says all sales are final once an artist accepts the order. Songlorious lets you cancel within 24 hours minus a 35% fee, or pay half up front through its Try Before You Buy option, where that first half stays with them if you walk away.

The first 60 seconds are free to hear, ready in about two minutes. $12.99 only if you keep the whole song.

Who should pay more for a custom song

A studio price makes sense in some situations, and we would point you there ourselves:

  • You want a particular voice. Browsing singers and hearing their past work before hiring one is something only a marketplace like Songfinch offers.
  • The song will be performed or released. A wedding performance, a streaming release or any business use needs the right license. Songlorious charges extra for both a commercial license and a streaming release.
  • The story is long. A three- to six-minute song with several verses has room for a whole relationship. A two-minute song has room for three or four strong details.
  • You have a week or more. Studio timelines are days, and the best artists book up before holidays.
  • It matters to them that a person wrote it. For some recipients, the craft is the point, and no price comparison changes that.

Paying less is the better call when the date is this week, when the budget is under $50, when you are unsure which style they would like and want to hear it first, or when the song is one part of a bigger present rather than the whole gift.

How to avoid paying twice

With studios and freelancers, the total tends to grow after checkout, through rush fees, changes and add-ons. A few habits keep the first price the final one.

Write the details you care about as a short list, with names spelled exactly and any hard name written out the way it sounds. At a studio, check every line of the draft lyrics, because that is the cheapest moment to fix anything. Order with a few days to spare rather than buying rush delivery. And if a site lets you hear part of the song first, use that before you pay the rest.

Can I get a custom song for under $20? Yes. AI song sites and some Etsy and Fiverr sellers charge $5 to $20. Look for one that lets you hear your own song before paying, so the low price is not a gamble.

Is an expensive custom song better? It is different. You pay for a person's time, a voice you picked and room for a longer story. Whether that beats a cheaper song depends on the deadline, the budget and what the person you are giving it to will value. Our guide to the best custom song services compares them side by side.
