Songfinch reviews: 23,606 Trustpilot reviews, the price and the fine print

Songfinch is the best-known custom song marketplace: you pick a real musician, share your story and get an original song in about a week, from $179. It promises no AI, and most of its Trustpilot reviewers are delighted. The things to know before you pay are on its revisions page and in its terms.

How much does Songfinch cost?

The headline price is $179, and that is the rate of the cheapest artists. Every musician on Songfinch sets their own rate. On the day we read its homepage, the artists shown ran from $179 up to $1,099, so the price you pay depends mostly on who you pick.

Three things raise the total after you choose an artist. A delivery date sooner than the standard 7 days costs more, and only select artists offer 24 hours. Extras such as an additional verse are added at checkout. And any change once the song is delivered is a separate payment: you make the artist an offer through the Change Request tool, and they can accept or decline it. We did not record a price list for these extras, because they vary by artist.

What buyers report paying is a useful check on the headline. In the recent one-star reviews we read, people mention totals from about $200 to over $400, and one says each edit cost $60. Those are individual accounts, not a price list, but they match the structure above: base price, then add-ons, then paid changes.

There is no subscription and no deposit scheme. You pay in full when you order, before you hear anything, and once an artist accepts the order the payment is final.

What happy customers say

Most of Songfinch’s 23,606 Trustpilot reviews are five-star. The ones we read describe artists who picked up the small details from the story, voices people loved, and recipients in tears. A real musician, chosen by you, is the point of the service, and reviewers who wanted exactly that are very happy with it.

What one-star reviewers say

One-star reviews are about 3% of the total. Reading the recent ones (late 2024 to 2026), the same complaints come up. These are individual customers’ accounts, not things we tested:

  • Details left out. Some say the lyrics used only two or three of the things they wrote, and felt generic.
  • Paying for changes. Reviewers expected free fixes and found changes cost extra; one says each edit was $60.
  • No refund. Several asked for one after a song they disliked and were told all sales are final.
  • Late songs. A few say the artist started late or asked for more time close to the event.
  • The total. Reviewers mention paying from about $200 to over $400, some with an extra verse or faster delivery.

Is Songfinch legit?

Yes. It has been running since 2016, pays independent musicians, and has one of the largest review counts in the category with a 4.5 score. The complaints are about expectations: changes cost extra, refunds stop once an artist accepts, and the song is licensed to you for personal use rather than owned.

If you order, pick an artist with many songs and reviews, choose a delivery date with a few days to spare, and write the details you care about most as a short list, so none of them gets left out.

How to avoid the common Songfinch complaints

Each complaint above lines up with a rule on Songfinch’s own pages, so most of them can be headed off before you pay:

  • Details left out: the draft lyrics step is your free chance to catch it. Check every name, date and in-joke there, because changing the finished recording is a paid request.
  • Paying for changes: decide in advance what a change is worth to you. The Change Request tool asks you to name an amount, and the artist can turn it down.
  • No refund: treat the order as final from the moment an artist accepts it. If you are unsure about a voice, listen to that artist’s past songs before choosing rather than after.
  • Late songs: the standard is 7 days, so for a fixed date order at least ten days ahead, or pay for a faster artist and still leave a margin.
  • Playing it in public: the licence is for personal use. If you plan anything beyond a private gift, read the terms before ordering.

Songfinch vs Songlorious

These are the two studios most people compare, and they differ in ways that matter more than the $21 between their starting prices. Songfinch is a marketplace: you choose one musician and that person writes and sings your song with no AI. Songlorious is a production team: songwriters and producers make the song, using AI-assisted tools and voices licensed from real singers.

The bigger practical difference is how much you can check before the money is gone. Songlorious emails you the lyrics while the song is being written and lets you reword any line for free; it also offers Try Before You Buy, where you pay half, hear about 30 seconds and read the lyrics, then pay the rest. Songfinch has a draft-lyrics review, but you pay in full first and hear nothing until delivery.

Speed favours Songlorious on the standard tier (4 days against 7). For a very tight deadline both charge for speed: some Songfinch artists deliver in 24 hours, and Songlorious charges $85 for next day.

Pick Songfinch if choosing the exact singer is what matters, since you can browse and hear each artist first. Pick Songlorious if you want to approve the words line by line and would like a partial preview before paying the balance.

When a human-made song is better

We sell an AI-made song, and there are gifts where we would point you to a studio like Songfinch instead:

  • You want a particular voice. On Songfinch you hear an artist before you hire them; we have two fictional AI voices, one female and one male.
  • The song will be performed or released. A wedding performance, a recording you want to distribute or anything public needs a musician and the right licence, not a personal-use file.
  • The story is long or delicate. A musician can ask questions and handle nuance across several conversations. We build the lyrics from a name, a few lines and a style.
  • You need a language or style we do not sing. We sing in English, German, French, Spanish and Japanese, rap in English only, and we have no gospel or lullaby style.
  • Knowing a person wrote it is part of the gift. For some recipients, that matters more than how fast it arrives or what it costs.

Songfinch vs NameSong: an honest comparison

We make the same kind of gift with an AI singer, so treat this as a competitor talking. If you want a human musician, Songfinch is the better choice. The differences are factual:

Where NameSong falls short

We are a new site, so there is nothing like 23,606 reviews behind us. Our singers are AI, and it is a two-minute song built from what you type, not a collaboration. Lyrics cannot be edited line by line: you read them on the preview page, and if something is off you use the free re-record with changed details.

What we do differently is let you judge the actual song before paying anything. The first 60 seconds are free after you give an email, with no card, and you see how the name is sung. If the name is hard, you type how it sounds and the singer follows that.
