Anniversary songs

You've said "happy anniversary" every year. You've never said what this year was actually like.

An anniversary song, from the classics or from your story

An anniversary song should sound like your marriage, not like a radio ballad. Tell us how it started, what changed and what never did, and the chorus carries their name.

Free to hear: the first 60 seconds in about two minutes. $12.99 only if you keep the full song.

An anniversary song, from the classics or from your story

Hear the second a name lands

Saoirse, my love, you are my home.

You wrote“She lent me her umbrella and kept it for a year.”

The song singsYou shared your small umbrella on the platform. I kept it safe for a whole year.

From a real song made here: “Ten Octobers with You”, for Saoirse, from what her husband typed.

The moment you give it

You share one pair of earbuds across a small restaurant table. The song finds the umbrella, the first apartment, the year that was hard, and the waiter decides dessert can wait.

Under the dinner plate, before dessert

Lift the plate.

Then give me your hand and put one earbud in.

How it works: a personalized anniversary song in four steps

A personalized anniversary song is only as specific as the three lines you give it. "We met at a wedding" is fine; "we met at my cousin's wedding when you spilled punch on my shoes" is a verse.

  • Type their first name. If people often say it wrong, add how it sounds, then pick wife, husband, partner or, for your parents, someone else.
  • Choose Anniversary as the occasion and write up to three short lines: where it started, a habit of theirs you love, and what this year means.
  • Pick a style and a voice. About two minutes later the first 60 seconds play on the page, with every lyric line next to the player.
  • Keep it for $12.99 and the whole song unlocks at once. If you leave it, you pay nothing and the preview stays in your account.

The shape of an anniversary song

Part of the songWhat to write
Verse 1The beginning: where you met or the first date
ChorusTheir name, and what they still mean to you
Verse 2Life now: a home, kids, a routine you love
Last chorusThe year you are celebrating and what comes next

Ideas by number of years

Early anniversaries can be light and full of firsts. By ten years there is usually a home, maybe children, and a few hard seasons worth naming. Long marriages suit a slower song that looks back. Our milestone pages go deeper on each number.

  • Year one to five: the first apartment, the first fight you laugh about now, the trip you saved for.
  • Year ten to twenty: the house, the kids or the dog, the hard year you got through together and what it showed you about them.
  • Year twenty-five and beyond: who you were on the wedding day, the friends who were there, and what you would tell those two people now.

For example

That is a complete anniversary song in three lines.

  • We got married at the courthouse on a Tuesday because we couldn't wait.
  • Our first apartment had a kitchen so small we cooked in shifts.
  • Twelve years, two kids and one very old cat later, I'd still pick you.

Choosing the style

Acoustic pop and piano ballads are the most common anniversary picks. If your wedding had a country playlist, follow that instead. Choose the voice that sounds like it is singing to your partner.

Traditional anniversary gifts by year

A song pairs with any of these, and you can work the traditional gift into one of your lines.

If your partner has a nickname for you, or you for them, use it in a line; nicknames often become the most memorable lyric in the whole song.

Ways to give it on the day

  • At dinner: play the MP3 from your phone when dessert arrives.
  • A week before: send the 15-second teaser link, so they know something is coming but not what.
  • In the morning: turn on their private link, add your name and a two-line note, and text it before work.
  • Next year: switch on the reminder on your song page and we email you three weeks and one week before the date.

Reviews and real examples

NameSong opened in October 2026, so there are no years of ratings to show you, and we will not invent any. What we can show is the work: the anniversary sample on this page was made from four sentences, and the brief sits under it so you can judge how closely the lyrics follow what someone wrote.

Buyer reviews, including critical ones, appear on our reviews page as they come in. The samples page has a song in every style, each with its brief.
